SLICK ROADS POSSIBLE SUNDAY MORNING IN THE SHENANDOAH VALLEY AND HIGHER ELEVATIONS

STAUNTON – (8:30 a.m.) Freezing drizzle and freezing fog have been reported Sunday morning in some areas of the Shenandoah Valley and higher elevations along the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Virginia Department of Transportation has treated several roadways including Route 33 in Rockingham County, Route 211 in Shenandoah and Page counties, and Interstate 64 in Augusta County. VDOT crews will continue to monitor conditions and treat roads as needed.

Motorists are advised to travel with extreme caution until temperatures rise well above freezing.

As of 8:30 a.m. Sunday, crews are working to reopen I-64 between exit 96 in Augusta County and exit 107 in Albemarle County. The eastbound and westbound lanes have been closed since early Sunday morning due to a multi-vehicle crash on Afton Mountain. I-64 traffic is using Route 250 as a detour.

Traffic alerts and traveler information can be obtained by dialing 511. Traffic alerts and traveler information also are available at http://www.511Virginia.org.
