ROUTE 608 CLOSURE IN AUGUSTA COUNTY BEGINS APRIL 8

STAUNTON – Part of Route 608 (Long Meadow Road) in Augusta County will be closed from 8:30 a.m. Monday, April 8, through Friday, April 19. The location is in the Fishersville area between Route 250 (Jefferson Highway) and Route 641 (Fishersville Road). This portion of Route 608 is scheduled to be closed 24/7 for utility relocation in advance of a turn-lane construction project.

Motorists will have access to homes and businesses on either side of the work zone. Signs will guide through traffic on the following detours:

  • Southbound traffic will follow Route 1360 (Westminster Drive) west and south, then Route 250 east to return to Route 608.
  • Northbound traffic will follow Route 250 west, then Route 1360 north and east to return to Route 608.

When utility relocation is complete, contractors will build a new right-turn lane from Route 608 onto Route 250. A separate traffic detour will guide motorists around the work zone during turn-lane construction. The Virginia Department of Transportation will announce the construction schedule and detour prior to the start of this work.

All work is weather permitting.
