SALEM DISTRICT: WATCH OUT FOR ICY ROADS OVERNIGHT AND DURING MONDAY COMMUTE
Cold temperatures may cause wet roads to refreeze overnight and Monday morning

SALEM - The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is warning drivers to watch out for icy spots on roadways throughout western Virginia as low overnight temperatures may cause re-freezing of any moisture on roadways.

Drivers should travel cautiously, use caution and pay particular attention to coolers spots like bridges and overpasses and shaded areas.

Equipment operators will monitor roads overnight and Monday morning to address cooler spots, icy patches and refreeze.

Travelers are reminded that they can get real-time information on road conditions and traffic incidents on Virginia roads by using VDOT’s 511 free mobile app or the www.511Virginia.org website and phone system.

The Salem District includes the counties of Bedford, Botetourt, Carroll, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pulaski, and Roanoke.
