TRAFFIC ALERT: LYNCHBURG TURNPIKE TO CLOSE AS WORK ON EAST MAIN STREET CONTINUES IN SALEM
SALEM – As work to improve East Main Street from Brand Avenue to Thompson Memorial Drive in the City of Salem continues, Lynchburg Turnpike is scheduled to close as part of the project.
Beginning Monday, March 23, Lynchburg Turnpike will be closed at the intersection with East Main Street for reconstruction. This closure will be in place for approximately two weeks and message boards will be in place to alert drivers. A detour will be in place with signs directing traffic.
Local traffic should continue to expect delays in the area due to flagging operations within the work zone at various times and locations.
The project is scheduled to be complete sometime this summer.
