TRAFFIC ALERT: MILLING AND PAVING BEGINS TONIGHT WITH EXTENDED LANE CLOSURES SCHEDULED THROUGH THE WEEKEND AT INTERSTATE 81’S EXIT 150 IN BOTETOURT COUNTY

SALEM, VA – As part of the rehabilitation project of two bridges on Interstate 81 over Route 220 at exit 150 in Botetourt County, milling and paving on I-81 begins tonight and extended lane closures will be in place over the weekend from mile marker 149.7 to 150.6.

On Wednesday, August 21, and Thursday, August 22, from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning, the southbound right lane of I-81 at exit 150 will be closed for milling on the bridge deck. Drivers should use caution and expect grooved pavement conditions in the area. Motorcyclists are advised to use the left lane only.

An extended lane closure has been scheduled from Friday, August 23, at 8 p.m. to Saturday, August 24 at 10 a.m., for the northbound right lane of I-81 at exit 150 for continued work on the bridge.

For paving operations on the bridge deck, an extended lane closure has been scheduled for the southbound right lane of I-81 at exit 150 from Saturday, August 24, at 8 p.m. to Sunday, August 25 at 10 a.m. the following morning or until the pavement is cured.

Drivers may experience delays and should plan their travel accordingly.
