VDOT COMPLETES EXIT RAMP LANE ADDITION AT I-95 SOUTH RAMP TO ARTHUR ASHE BOULEVARD (EXIT 78) IN RICHMOND
Project started in early 2022
RICHMOND, Va. – A project improving traffic flow for the I-95 south ramp to Arthur Ashe Boulevard (Exit 78) is now complete in the City of Richmond.
The Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) $5.2 million ramp improvement and lane restriping project improved safety from I-64 west to I-95 south and added a second lane on the Exit 78 ramp increasing vehicle capacity.
More vehicles will now be able to access the ramp to Arthur Ashe Boulevard (Route 161) from I-95 south. Additionally, lanes were reallocated at the I-95 and I-64 merge point to enhance traffic flow.
“The exit ramp for I-95 south to Arthur Ashe Boulevard is also two lanes, so widening the southbound ramp made sense from a traffic capacity and flow standpoint” said Robert Poutier, P.E., Richmond District Construction Engineer. “The ramp connects travelers to Richmond’s Scott’s Addition neighborhood, which features several businesses and attractions for residents and tourists alike.”
Work on this project started in early 2022. More information is available at https://www.virginiadot.org/projects/richmond/richmond---i-95-south-bryan-park-lane-restriping-and-ramp-improvements-at-arthur-ashe-boulevard.asp.
