TRANSPORTATION BOARD AWARDS CONTRACT TO REPLACE PATRICK HENRY HIGHWAY (ROUTE 360) BRIDGES IN AMELIA COUNTY
Project to replace eastbound and westbound bridges will begin late 2020

SOUTH CHESTERFIELD, Va. — At its September meeting, the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) awarded a contract worth approximately $7.8 million to Brayman Construction Corporation of Saxonburg, Pennsylvania to replace the eastbound and westbound bridges of Patrick Henry Highway (Route 360) over Route 360 Business (Goodes Bridge Road) and the Norfolk Southern Railway in Amelia County.

The purpose of this State of Good Repair project is to replace the existing four-span twin bridges with two-span bridges, along with clearance for an additional railroad track and access road. The new bridges will have two 12-foot wide lanes with 4-foot wide shoulders, giving drivers a 32-foot clear roadway width for enhanced visibility and safety. The existing bridges were constructed in 1966.

Two-way traffic will be maintained throughout the project. Short, intermittent detours will be in place for on- and off-ramp accesses during the traffic shifts. Weather permitting, work is expected to be complete in summer 2022.
