Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges May 21–26 for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Sunday, May 21, and Monday, May 22
Ramps from I-66 West to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) North and South
The ramps will be closed both nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Drivers will be directed to continue farther west, exit to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North Gainesville, stay to the left on the ramp and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right to I-66 East and follow signs to Route 234 Business.
Sunday, May 21
Ramps from Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North and South to I-66 East
The ramps will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Route 286 North traffic will be directed to continue north past I-66, exit to Route 50 East, travel about two miles and follow signs to I-66 East. Route 286 South traffic will be directed to exit to Route 50 East prior to the closure, then follow signs to I-66 East.

Ramps from I-66 East to Route 286 North and South and part of the I-66 East collector-distributor lane
A portion of the I-66 East collector-distributor lane and the ramps will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to Route 50 West, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 286 North or South.
Sunday, May 21, through Thursday, May 25
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 East
The ramp will be closed each night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for milling and paving. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 286 South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 50 East.
Sunday, May 21, and Monday, May 22
Ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed both nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 608 (West Ox Road) South, stay to the right to Route 50 East, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Sunday, May 21, through Thursday, May 25
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for milling and paving. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road onto Route 50 West, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.

Ramp from I-66 East to Route 50 East
The ramp will be closed each night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for milling and paving. Traffic will be detoured to Route 50 West, exit to Route 608 South, then stay to the right to Route 50 East.

Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for milling and paving. Traffic will be directed farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 South
Monday, May 22, through Friday, May 26: 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The ramp will be closed on multiple nights for striping and barrier removal. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 29 Centreville, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 North, then follow signs to Route 28 South. Note: This closure will not be implemented if it conflicts with other detours.
Monday night, May 22, through Thursday night, May 25
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 29 North and South Centreville
The ramp will be closed each night from midnight to 4 a.m. for noise wall work. Traffic will be detoured prior to the closure to Route 28 South, then follow signs to Route 29 North or South.
Monday, May 22, through Wednesday, May 24
Ramp from I-66 West to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed each night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to Route 28 North, travel to the Westfields Boulevard Interchange. Drivers heading to Braddock Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard West, then continue to Braddock Road. Drivers traveling to Walney Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard East, then turn right onto Walney Road.
Monday, May 22, and Thursday, May 25
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North and Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed both nights from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 286 North, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 28 North.
Monday, May 22, through Friday, May 26
Ramp from Braddock Road/Walney Road to Route 28 South
The ramp will be closed on multiple nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for striping and barrier removal. Traffic will be directed to the Westfields Boulevard Interchange to reach Route 28 South.
Monday, May 22, through Friday, May 26
Ramp from Route 286 South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving, light pole removal, and barrier removal. Traffic will be directed to I-66 East, exit to Route 50 West, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West. Note: This closure will not be implemented if it conflicts with other detours.
Tuesday, May 23, through Thursday, May 25
Ramps from Route 28 North and South to I-66 East
The ramps will be closed between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. on multiple nights for paving and overhead bridge work. Southbound traffic will be directed farther south to Route 29 South, continue for about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 East. Northbound traffic will also be directed to Route 29 South (prior to the closure), stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, continue for about one mile and follow signs to I-66 East.
Thursday, May 25
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for lighting work. Traffic will be directed to I-495 South, take the exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.
