Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges July 24-28 for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

UPDATE (7/26/2023): The closure of the ramps from I-66 East to Route 50 East and West has been rescheduled to tonight, Wednesday, July 26, instead of Thursday, July 27. This work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Monday night, July 24
Ramp from I-495 South to I-66 West
   
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for drainage repair. Traffic will be detoured farther south to the exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, stay to the right following signs to I-495 North and I-66, then follow signs to I-66 West. (Note: This work will occur on an alternate night if the detour route is not available.)


Monday night, July 24
Ramp from Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther north to White Granite Drive, stay to the left and make a U-turn onto Route 123 South, then follow signs to I-66 West.


Monday night, July 24
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge painting. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, stay to the right to I-495 South, then follow signs to I-66 West. (Note: This work will occur on an alternate night if the detour route is not available.)


Tuesday, July 25, and Wednesday, July 26
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed both nights between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. for utility installation. Traffic will be directed to I-66 West (prior to the closure), exit to Nutley Street, stay to the left and follow the roundabout onto Nutley Street South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.


Wednesday, July 26
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North  
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to I-495 South, take the exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.


Thursday, July 27

Ramps from I-66 East to Route 50 East and West
The ramps will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for light pole installation. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 123, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 123 North, stay to the right to I-66 West, and then follow signs to Route 50 West or Route 50 East.


Thursday, July 27, and Friday, July 28
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed both nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for inspections. Traffic will be detoured farther south to Route 29 North, stay right to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East.


Friday, July 28
Ramp from Nutley Street South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for light pole installation. Traffic will be detoured farther south, stay to the left and make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Route 29 onto Nutley Street North, then follow signs to I-66 East.
