Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges September 25-30 for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Details include:

Sunday, September 25, and Monday, September 26
Ramps from Route 29 (Lee Highway) North and South Gainesville to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be directed to I-66 West, take the exit to Route 15, stay to the left and use the left-most lane to Route 15 South, then follow signs to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.

 

Monday, September 26, through Wednesday, September 28 
Ramp from Route 234 Bypass (Prince William Parkway) to I-66 East
Ramp closure is planned between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. on multiple nights for paving. Traffic will be detoured to I-66 West, exit to Route 29 North, turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.

 

Monday, September 26, through Wednesday, September 28 
Ramp from Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) North and South to I-66 East
Ramp closure is planned between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. on multiple nights for paving. Northbound traffic will be directed to continue north for about one mile and turn right onto Route 29 North, travel approximately four miles to the Route 29 Interchange in Centreville, then follow signs to I-66 East. 

Southbound traffic will be directed to turn right onto Balls Ford Road, turn left at the traffic signal onto Miramar Drive, turn left at the traffic signal onto Coverstone Drive, then turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 234 Business North. Drivers will continue north for about 1.5 miles and turn right onto Route 29 North, travel approximately four miles to the Route 29 Interchange in Centreville and follow signs to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.

 

Monday night, September 26, through Wednesday night, September 28
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to I-495 South, exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.

 

Monday night, September 26, through Thursday night, September 29
Ramp from Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) North and South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for paving. Traffic will be directed to I-66 East, exit to Nutley Street, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic-signal onto Nutley Street North, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.

 

Monday, September 26, through Friday, September 30
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed on multiple nights Monday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday from 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, stay to the right to I-495 South, then follow signs to I-66 West. 

 

Tuesday, September 27, through Thursday, September 29
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on multiple nights for paving. Traffic will be directed to I-66 West to Nutley Street, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Nutley Street South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.

 

Thursday, September 29, and Friday, September 30 
Ramp from Route 234 Business North and South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed both nights between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be detoured north of I-66 to Route 29 South, travel about four miles then follow signs to I-66 West. As an alternate route, drivers on Route 234 Business can go west on Balls Ford Road, turn right onto Route 234 Bypass, then follow signs to I-66 West. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.
