Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges October 23-28 for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Details include:

Sunday, October 23, through Thursday, October 27  
Ramp from Route 234 Bypass (Prince William Parkway) to I-66 East
Ramp closure is planned on multiple days between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. for paving. Traffic will be detoured to I-66 West, exit to Route 29 North, turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right to I-66 East. 

 

Sunday, October 23, through Friday night, October 28 
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North and South Centreville
Ramp closure is planned on multiple days from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving and striping. Traffic will be detoured prior to the closure to Route 28 South, then follow signs to Route 29 North or South. Note: This closure will not be implemented when the detour conflicts with other closures.

 

Sunday, October 23, through Tuesday, October 25 
Ramps from Route 29 North and South Centreville to I-66 East
Ramp closure is planned on multiple nights between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. for paving. Route 29 South traffic will be directed farther south to Stone Road, make a U-turn onto Route 29 North, exit to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East. Route 29 North traffic will be directed farther north to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.

Sunday, October 23, through Saturday, October 29
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 North
Ramp closure is planned on multiple nights from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North. 

Ramp from I-66 West to Braddock Road/Walney Road
Ramp closure is planned on multiple nights 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, to Route 29 North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North, then follow signs to the Braddock Road/Walney Road left exit.

Sunday, October 23, through Saturday, October 29
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West
Ramp closure is planned on multiple nights from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be directed to continue farther south, exit to Route 29 South, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 West.

Sunday, October 23, through Saturday, October 29
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed on multiple nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving and a traffic shift. Traffic will be detoured farther south to Route 29 North, stay right to Route 28 North, then follow signs for I-66 East.

 

Sunday, October 23, through Friday, October 28 
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North
The ramp will be closed on multiple nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights, and from 9:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. Friday night for overhead bridge work and noise wall work. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 28 North. 

Sunday, October 23, through Saturday, October 29
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed on multiple nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road onto Route 50 West, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.

Ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed on multiple nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 608 (West Ox Road) South, stay to the right for Route 50 East, then follow signs to I-66 West.

 

Sunday, October 23, through Saturday, October 29
Ramps from I-66 East to Route 50 East and West
The ramps will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday and Saturday for paving. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road), stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 123 North, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 50 East or West. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.

 

Sunday, October 23, through Saturday, October 29
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 East
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 West
Ramp closure is planned on multiple nights between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 50 East or West. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.

 

Friday, October 28, through Monday, October 31
Ramp from I-66 East to Nutley Street North 
The ramp will be closed continuously from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for ramp construction. Traffic will be directed to exit to Nutley Street South, stay to the left and make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Saintsbury Drive onto Nutley Street North. 

Sunday, October 23, through Saturday, October 29
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 South
The ramp will be closed on multiple nights Sunday through Thursday from 11:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be detoured to I-495 North, travel to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, then stay to the right to I-495 South. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.

 

Sunday, October 23, through Saturday, October 29
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed on multiple nights Sunday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and on Friday and Saturday from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) East, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 East. 

 

Sunday, October 23, through Saturday, October 29
Ramp from I-66 West to I-495 South
The ramp will be closed on multiple nights from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Nutley Street, stay to the left on the ramp and turn left at the traffic signal onto Nutley Street South, stay right to I-66 East, then follow signs to I-495 South.

 

Sunday, October 23, through Thursday, October 27
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North
The ramp will be closed on multiple nights from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured to I-495 South, exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.
