Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges October 2-7 for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Details include:
Sunday, October 2
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 North
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for inspection work. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North.
Ramp from I-66 West to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for inspection work. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, to Route 29 North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North, then follow signs to the Braddock Road/Walney Road left exit.
Sunday, October 2
Ramp from Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) North and South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Northbound traffic will be directed to continue north for about one mile and turn right onto Route 29 North, travel approximately four miles to the Route 29 Interchange in Centreville, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Southbound traffic will be directed to turn right onto Balls Ford Road, turn left at the traffic signal onto Miramar Drive, turn left at the traffic signal onto Coverstone Drive, then turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 234 Business North. Traffic will continue north for about 1.5 miles and turn right onto Route 29 North, travel approximately four miles to the Route 29 Interchange in Centreville, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Sunday, October 2, through Thursday, October 6
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed nightly from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be directed to continue farther south, exit to Route 29 South, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Sunday, October 2, through Thursday, October 6
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 29 North and South Centreville
Ramp closure is planned between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. on multiple nights for paving. Traffic will be detoured prior to the closure to Route 28 South, then follow signs to Route 29 North or South.
Monday, October 3, and Tuesday, October 4
Ramps from I-66 East to Route 50 East and West
The ramps will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. both nights for paving. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road), stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 123 North, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 50 East or West.
Monday, October 3, through Friday, October 7
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed nightly Monday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday from 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. for milling and paving. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, stay to the right to I-495 South, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Monday, October 3, through Wednesday, October 5
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North
The ramp will be closed from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured to I-495 South, exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.
Monday, October 3
Ramps from Route 29 North and South Centreville to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. for paving. Route 29 South traffic will be directed farther south to Stone Road, make a U-turn onto Route 29 North, exit to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East. Route 29 North traffic will be directed farther north to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Monday night, October 3, through Thursday night, October 6
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 234 Business North and South
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for underdrain work. Drivers will be directed to continue farther west, exit to Route 29 North Gainesville, stay to the left on the ramp and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right to I-66 East and follow signs to Route 234 Business.
Wednesday, October 5, and Thursday, October 6
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 East
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 West
The ramps will be closed both nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 50 East or West.
