Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges November 13-18 for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Details include:
Monday, November 14, through Wednesday, November 16
Ramp from I-66 West to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on multiple nights for barrier removal. Traffic will be directed to Route 28 North, travel to the Westfields Boulevard Interchange. Drivers heading to Braddock Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard West, then continue to Braddock Road. Drivers traveling to Walney Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard East, then turn right onto Walney Road.
Monday, November 14, through Friday, November 18
I-66 East collector-distributor lane and the ramps from I-66 East to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North and South
The collector-distributor lane and the ramps will be closed from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. (6 a.m. on Saturday) on multiple nights for paving. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to Route 50 West, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 286 North or South.
Monday, November 14, through Friday, November 18
Ramp from Route 286 South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. (6 a.m. on Saturday) on multiple nights for paving. Traffic will be directed farther south to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North, turn left at the second traffic signal, and follow signs to Route 286 North, then exit to I-66 East.

Ramp from Route 286 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. (6 a.m. on Saturday) on multiple nights for paving. Traffic will be directed to exit to I-66 West, stay right to Route 286 South, then stay right to I-66 East.
Monday, November 14, through Friday, November 18
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 286 North
The ramp will be closed from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. (6 a.m. on Saturday) on multiple nights for paving. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to Route 50 West, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 286 North.
Tuesday, November 15, and Wednesday, November 16
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed both nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for guardrail installation. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road onto Route 50 West, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Tuesday, November 15, and Wednesday, November 16
Ramps from I-66 East to Route 50 East and West
The ramps will be closed both nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road), stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 123 North, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 50 East or West. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Monday, November 14; Thursday, November 17; and Friday, November 18
Ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed on multiple nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. (6 a.m. on Saturday) for paving. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 608 (West Ox Road) South, stay to the right to Route 50 East, then follow signs to I-66 West. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Tuesday, November 15, and Wednesday, November 16
Ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed both nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Route 608 South, stay to the right to Route 50 East, then follow signs to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Monday, November 14; Thursday, November 17; and Friday, November 18
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 West
The ramp will be closed each night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. (6 a.m. on Saturday) for paving. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Route 286 South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 50 West. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Monday, November 14, through Wednesday, November 16
Ramp from Route 123 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on multiple nights for paving. Traffic will be directed farther north to the loop ramp to I-66 West, exit to Route 50 East, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Sunday, November 13
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North
The ramp will be closed from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be detoured to I-495 South, exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.
Sunday, November 13
Ramps from Nutley Street North and South to I-66 East
The ramps will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to I-66 West, exit to Route 123, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 123 South, then stay to right to I-66 East.
Monday, November 14, through Thursday, November 17
Ramp from I-66 West to I-495 South and the 495 Express Lanes South
The ramp will be closed each night from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. for concrete work and paving. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Nutley Street, stay to the left on the ramp and turn left at the traffic signal to Nutley Street South, stay right to I-66 East, then follow signs to I-495 South or the 495 Express Lanes South.
Sunday, November 13, and Monday, November 14
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. both nights for paving repairs. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) East, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. both nights for paving repairs. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 West, stay to the right to I-495 South, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Wednesday night, November 16, and Thursday night, November 17
Ramp from I-495 South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. both nights for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured farther south to the exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, stay to the right following signs to I-495 North and I-66, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Monday, November 14, through Wednesday, November 16
Ramps from I-66 East to Nutley Street North and South
The ramps will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on multiple nights for paving and preparations for a new ramp opening. Traffic will be detoured farther east to I-495 North, travel north to Route 7 West, stay to the right to I-495 South, exit to I-66 West, then follow signs to Nutley Street North or South.
Monday, November 14, through Friday, November 18
Ramps from I-66 West to Nutley Street North and South
The ramps will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night (6 a.m. on Saturday) for paving. Traffic will be directed farther west to the exit to Vienna/Fairfax/GMU Station, stay to the right onto Country Creek Road, continue onto Virginia Center Boulevard, then at the Nutley Street traffic signal turn left to head north or turn right to travel south.
