Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges Next Week, July 11-16, For the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Details include:

Monday night, July 11
Ramp from Route 28 North to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for sign installation. Traffic will be directed to continue farther north to the Westfields Boulevard Interchange. Drivers traveling to Braddock Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard West, then continue to Braddock Road. Drivers traveling to Walney Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard East, then turn right onto Walney Road.

 

Monday night, July 11
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for sign installation. Traffic will be directed to continue south, exit to Route 29 (Lee Highway) South, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 West.

 

Monday night, July 11, through Wednesday night, July 13
Ramp from Braddock Road East/West to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for guardrail installation. Traffic will be directed to exit to Route 28 South, cross over I-66, then exit to Route 29 South, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 West.

 

Tuesday night, July 12
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 East 
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for sign installation. Traffic will be directed farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at Waples Mill Road onto Route 50 West, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.

 

Wednesday night, July 13
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for barrier work and guardrail installation. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road onto Route 50 West, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.

 

Thursday night, July 14, and Friday night, July 15
Ramp from Braddock Road/Walney Road to Route 28 South  
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for guardrail installation. Traffic will be directed to Westfields Boulevard to reach Route 28 South. 

 

Friday, July 15
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 234 Bypass (Prince William Parkway)
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for striping. Traffic will be detoured farther west, exit to Route 29 North, turn to the left at the traffic signal on to Route 29 South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 234 Bypass.

 

Saturday night, July 16
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North   
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 5 a.m. for sign installation. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 28 North.

 

Saturday, July 16
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North  
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to I-495 South, take the exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.
