Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges, May 23-26, for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Details include:
Monday, May 23, and Thursday, May 26
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. both nights for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to I-495 South, take the exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.
Monday night, May 23, through Thursday night, May 26
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 50 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for drainage work. Traffic will be detoured to Route 50 West, exit to Route 608 (West Ox Road) South, then stay to the right to Route 50 East.
Monday, May 23, and Thursday, May 26
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed both nights from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) East, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed both nights from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 West, stay to the right to I-495 South, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Monday night, May 23, through Thursday night, May 26
Ramp from Nutley Street South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for overhead bridge work and gantry removal. Traffic will be detoured farther south, stay to the left and make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Route 29 (Lee Highway) onto Nutley Street North, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Tuesday night, May 24, through Thursday night, May 26
Ramp from Route 29 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for repair work. Traffic will be detoured farther north to the intersection of Machen Road/Trinity Parkway. At the traffic signal drivers will use the left-most turn lane to make a U-turn onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.
Wednesday night, May 25, and Thursday night, May 26
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. both nights for barrier work and a concrete pour. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road onto Route 50 West, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.
Wednesday night, May 25, and Thursday, May 26
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 West
The ramp will be closed Wednesday night from midnight to 4 a.m., and Thursday night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 50 West.
