Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges, May 15-21, for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Details include:
Sunday night, May 15
Ramp from Route 50 West to Fair Oaks Mall
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Route 608 South, stay to the right to Route 50 East, then turn right at one of the two entrances to the Fair Oaks Mall property.
Monday night, May 16, and Tuesday night, May 17
Ramp from Nutley South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured further south, stay to the left and make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Saintsbury Drive onto Nutley Street North, and then follow signs to I-66 East.
Tuesday night, May 17
Ramp from I-66 East to Nutley Street North
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will exit to Nutley Street South, stay to the left and make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Saintsbury Drive onto Nutley Street North.
Tuesday night, May 17
Ramp from I-66 West to Nutley Street South
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed farther west to the exit to Vienna/Fairfax/GMU Station, stay to the right onto Country Creek Road, continue onto Virginia Center Boulevard, then at the Nutley Street traffic signal turn right to head south.
Tuesday, May 17, and Wednesday, May 18
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 50 East
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. both nights for paving. Traffic will be detoured to Route 50 West, exit to Route 608 (West Ox Road) South, then stay to the right to Route 50 East.
Wednesday night, May 18, through Friday night, May 20
Ramp from Route 29 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed nightly from midnight to 4 a.m. for drainage work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther north to the intersection of Machen Road/Trinity Parkway. At the traffic signal drivers will use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.
Wednesday, May 18, and Thursday, May 19
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. both nights for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 28 North.
Thursday, May 19, and Friday, May 20
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. both nights for barrier work and a concrete pour. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road onto Route 50 West, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.
Thursday, May 19 and Friday, May 20
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) East, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 West, stay to the right to I-495 South, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Saturday night, May 21
Ramp from Route 28 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 5 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Westfields Boulevard West, stay to the right to Route 28 South, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Thursday, May 19, and Friday, May 20
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. both nights for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to I-495 South, exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.
