Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges, March 13 – 19, for Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Details include:

Monday night, March 14, and Tuesday night, March 15
Ramp from Route 28 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for guardrail installation. Traffic will be directed to Route 29 (Lee Highway) South (prior to the closed ramp), stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, continue for about one mile and follow signs to I-66 East.

 

Monday, March 14, through Friday, March 18
Ramp from I-66 West to I-495 South
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for bridge deck work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Nutley Street, stay to the left on the ramp and turn left at the traffic signal to Nutley Street South, stay right to I-66 East, then follow signs to I-495 South.

 

Monday, March 14, through Friday, March 18
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed nightly Monday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 East, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 East. 

Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed nightly Monday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, stay to the right to I-495 South, then follow signs to I-66 West.

 

Tuesday night, March 15
Ramp from Route 29 North Centreville to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for inspection work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther north to the intersection of Machen Road/Trinity Parkway. At the traffic signal, drivers will use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.

 

Thursday night, March 17
Ramp from Route 29 South Gainesville to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for sign installation. Traffic will be directed to continue south to the traffic signal at McGraw’s Corner Drive/Virginia Oaks Drive, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most left-turn lane onto Route 29 North, then follow signs to I-66 East.

 

Thursday night, March 17
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 29 North Gainesville
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for inspection work. Traffic will be directed to exit to Route 29 South Gainesville (prior to the closure), continue south to the traffic signal at McGraw’s Corner Drive/Virginia Oaks Drive, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most left-turn lane onto Route 29 North.

 

Friday, March 18, through Monday, March 21
Ramp from I-66 West to Nutley Street South
The ramp will be closed beginning at 10 p.m. Friday continuously through 5 a.m. Monday for ramp construction. Traffic will be directed farther west to the exit to Vienna/Fairfax/GMU Station, stay to the right onto Country Creek Road, continue onto Virginia Center Boulevard, then at the Nutley Street traffic signal turn right to head south.

 

Friday night, March 18, and Saturday night, March 19
Ramp from Nutley Street North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue north, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most left turn lane at the traffic signal at Virginia Center Boulevard onto Nutley Street South, then follow signs to I-66 West.

 

Friday, March 18, and Saturday, March 19
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. each night for bridge work. Traffic will be directed to I-495 South, exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.
