Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges, June 20-26, for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Details include:
Monday night, June 20
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for sign installation. Traffic will be directed to continue farther south, exit to Route 29 (Lee Highway) South, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Monday, June 20, through Thursday, June 23
Ramp from Nutley Street South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed nightly from midnight to 4 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be detoured farther south, stay to the left and make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Route 29 onto Nutley Street North, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Monday night, June 20, through Thursday night, June 23
Ramp from I-66 East to Nutley Street North and South
The ramps will be closed each night from midnight to 4 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be detoured farther east to I-495 North, travel north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, stay to the right to I-495 South, exit to I-66 West, then follow signs to Nutley Street North or South.
Monday, June 20, through Friday, June 24
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North
The ramp will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to I-495 South, take the exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.
Monday night, June 20; Wednesday night, June 22; and Saturday night, June 23
Ramp from I-66 West to I-495 South
The ramp will be closed Monday and Wednesday nights from midnight to 4 a.m., and Saturday night from midnight to 5 a.m. for barrier and crash attenuator work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Nutley Street, stay to the left on the ramp and turn left at the traffic signal onto Nutley Street South, stay right to I-66 East, then follow signs to I-495 South.
Tuesday night, June 21, through Thursday night, June 23
Ramp from I-495 South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed each night from midnight to 4 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be detoured farther south to the exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, stay to the right following signs to I-495 North and I-66, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Thursday night, June 23
Ramp from Braddock Road/Walney Road to Route 28 South
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for sign installation. Traffic will be directed to Westfields Boulevard to reach Route 28 South.
Friday night, June 24, through Sunday night, June 26
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed Friday and Saturday nights midnight to 5 a.m., and Sunday night from midnight to 4 a.m. for ramp reconstruction. Traffic will be directed farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at Waples Mill Road, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.
Friday night, June 24
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 5 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to Route 50 West, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 286 North.
Friday night, June 24
Ramp from Route 286 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 5 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed farther north to the exit to Fair Lakes Parkway, stay to the left on the ramp and turn left from the left-most left-turn lane at the traffic signal onto Fair Lakes Parkway West. Traffic will stay left to turn left at the next traffic signal onto the ramp to Route 286 South, then follow signs to I-66 West.
