Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges, February 27-March 5, for Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. 

Details include:

Monday night, February 28, through Friday night, March 4
Ramp from I-66 West to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for wall work. Traffic will be directed to Route 28 North, travel to the Westfields Boulevard Interchange. Drivers heading to Braddock Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard West, then continue to Braddock Road. Drivers traveling to Walney Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard East, then turn right onto Walney Road.

 

Monday, February 28, through Thursday, March 3
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, stay to the right to I-495 South, then follow signs to I-66 West. 

Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 East, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights it conflicts with other closures and detours.

 

Monday, February 28, through Friday, March 4
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to I-495 South, exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.

 

Monday, February 28, and Tuesday, March 1
Ramp from I-66 West to I-495 South and the 495 Express Lanes South
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. both nights for a traffic shift on I-66 West. Traffic will be directed farther west to Nutley Street, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Nutley Street South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to I-495 South or to the 495 Express Lanes South. 

 

Tuesday night, March 1
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 286 South
The ramps will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for utility work. Traffic will be directed to continue east to the exit to Route 50 West, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 286 North or South.

 

Thursday, March 3
Ramp from Route 29 South (Lee Highway) Gainesville to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. for pole installation. Traffic will be directed to continue south to the traffic signal at McGraw’s Corner Drive/Virginia Oaks Drive, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most left-turn lane onto Route 29 North, then follow signs to I-66 East.
