Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges December 18-22 for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Details include:

Wednesday night, December 21
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) North and South 
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for barrier removal. Drivers will be directed to continue farther west, exit to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North Gainesville, stay to the left on the ramp and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right to I-66 East and follow signs to Route 234 Business.

Monday night, December 19, through Wednesday night, December 21
Ramp from Route 234 Business North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for drainage work. Traffic will be detoured farther north, stay to the right and turn right onto the spur ramp from Route 234 Business South to I-66 East.

 

Wednesday night, December 21, and Thursday night, December 22
Ramp from Route 28 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for light pole installation. Traffic will be directed to Route 29 (Lee Highway) South (prior to the closed ramp), stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, then continue for about one mile and follow signs to I-66 East.

Monday night, December 19
Ramps from I-66 East to Route 286 North and South
I-66 East Collector-Distributor Lane at Route 286
The ramps from I-66 East to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North and South and the eastbound collector-distributor lane at Route 286 will be closed for overhead sign installation. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to Route 50 West, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 286 North or South.

 

Monday night, December 19
Ramp from Route 286 South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead sign installation. Traffic will be directed farther south to Route 29 North, turn left at the second traffic signal, and follow signs to Route 286 North, then exit to I-66 East. 

Monday night, December 19, through Wednesday night, December 21
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North  
The ramp will be closed each night from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to I-495 South, take the exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.

Monday night, December 19, through Thursday night, December 22
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed each night from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to exit to I-66 West (prior to the closure), exit to Nutley Street, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Nutley Street South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.
