Overnight Lane Closures on I-66 West in Manassas Next Week, January 30-February 4, for Continued Overhead Bridge Work

FAIRFAX – I-66 West approaching the Manassas Safety Rest Area will be reduced to a single travel lane during the overnight hours next week, Sunday, January 30, through Friday, February 4, for continued overhead bridge beam installation for a new access ramp to the future I-66 Express Lanes. Westbound I-66 traffic will run in a single lane for about one mile behind barrier on the old general-purpose lanes so crews can safely install bridge beams over I-66 West during this period. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Drivers traveling on I-66 West during this time should expect delays and consider using alternate routes.

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.

Details include:

Sunday, January 30, through Friday, February 4
I-66 from Bull Run Drive to east of Route 234 Business (Sudley Road)

  • I-66 West will be reduced to a single travel lane Sunday through Thursday nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday night from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • All westbound traffic will be directed into a single lane and diverted behind barrier onto the old westbound general-purpose lanes.
  • All lanes will reopen weekday mornings by 5 a.m., and Saturday morning by 7 a.m.
