Overnight Lane Closures on I-66 East in Centreville Next Week, May 16-21, for Overhead Bridge Beam Installation
FAIRFAX – Continued bridge beam installation for an access ramp for the future I-66 Express Lanes will require overnight lane closures on I-66 East approaching Stringfellow Road next week from May 16-21. The work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Drivers traveling on I-66 during this time should expect delays and consider using alternate routes.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
Details include:
Monday, May 16
I-66 East from east of Route 28 to Stringfellow Road
- Two lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Drivers should expect periodic stoppages during the overnight hours.
- All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m.
Tuesday, May 17, Wednesday, May 18, Friday, May 20, and Saturday, May 21
I-66 East from east of Route 28 to Stringfellow Road
- I-66 East will be reduced to a single travel lane Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday and Saturday nights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- All eastbound traffic will be directed into a single travel lane and diverted to run behind barrier on new roadway.
- All lanes on I-66 East will reopen by 5 a.m. weekdays and by 6 a.m. on the weekend.
