Traffic Stoppages Planned on I-66 East and West near Cedar Lane for Utility Work on Friday Night, March 19
UPDATE: This work is now scheduled for Thursday, March 25.
FAIRFAX – Overnight lane closures and traffic stoppages are planned on I-66 East and West approaching Cedar Lane on Friday, March 19, for overhead utility line removal. Traffic on Cedar Lane will be flagged in a single, alternating lane while crossing I-66. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Drivers should expect delays if traveling in this area and should consider using alternate routes.
Details include:
Friday, March 19
I-66 East and West between Nutley Street and Gallows Road
- I-66 East and West will be reduced to one travel lane approaching Cedar Lane from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Drivers should expect periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between midnight and 4 a.m.
- All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m.
Cedar Lane between Hilltop Road and Cottage Street
- Flaggers will direct Cedar Lane traffic in a single lane between midnight and 4 a.m.
Message boards on I-66 are providing advance notice of lane closures and traffic stoppages.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
