Temporary Lane Closures on Ramp from I-495 South to I-66 West Starting on or about Thursday, January 28, through Mid-March 2021
Overnight closure of the ramp from I-495 South to I-66 West planned for January 27 and 28 to implement lane shift
FAIRFAX – Beginning on or about Thursday, January 28, the ramp from I-495 South to I-66 West will be temporarily reduced to one lane for construction of a new ramp as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. The lane closure will be in place through mid-March 2021.
A full closure of the ramp is planned between 10:30 p.m. and 4 a.m. nightly on Wednesday, January 27, and Thursday, January 28, for crews to implement the change.
Details on the overnight closure and detour needed to implement the change include:

Ramp from I-495 South to I-66 West
- The ramp will be closed from 10:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. nightly for crews to implement a lane shift and install barrier.
- Traffic will be detoured farther south on I-495 to exit toward Route 50 East, stay to the right to toward Fairview Park, then take the left fork for Fairview Park North and bear left following signs to I-495 North and I-66 West.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
Drivers should always use caution and pay attention to lane markings and roadway signs in construction zones.
