Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple Interchanges Next Week for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at several I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Details include:

Sunday night, May 9, through Wednesday night, May 12
Ramps from Nutley Street and Virginia Center Boulevard to I-66 West
The ramps will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night. Traffic will be directed south on Nutley Street to Route 29 (Lee Highway) South, to Route 50 West, to Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) North, stay to the left and follow signs to I-66 West.  

Sunday night, May 9, through Wednesday night, May 12
Ramp from I-66 West to Nutley Street North and South
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for paving work. Traffic will be directed farther west to the exit for Vienna/Fairfax/GMU Station, stay to the right on to Country Creek Road, continue on to Virginia Center Boulevard, then at the traffic signal turn left to Nutley Street North or turn right to Nutley Street South. 

Monday, May 10, and Tuesday, May 11
Ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed both nights from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured farther west to West Ox Road South, stay to the right to Route 50 East, then follow signs to I-66 West.

Monday night, May 10, through Thursday night, May 13
I-66 West to Route 28 North and Braddock Road
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, to Route 29 North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North, then follow signs to the Braddock Road/Walney Road left exit.

Tuesday night, May 11
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 50 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for crews to set barrier. Traffic will be directed to take the exit for Route 50 East, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road on to Route 50 West.

Thursday night, May 13, through Saturday night, May 15
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for overhead bridge work. Traffic will continue farther south to Route 29 North (Lee Highway), stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.

Friday night, May 14
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for drainage work. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 50 East.

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
