Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges This Weekend, June 11-12, and Next Week, June 13-19, for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

UPDATE (6/17/2021): An additional night has been added to the closure of the ramp from Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) North and South to I-66 East. It will also be closed tonight, Thursday, June 17, from midnight to 4 a.m.

UPDATE (6/16/2021): An additional night has been added to the closure of the ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 North and Braddock Road/Walney Road. It will also be closed Saturday night, June 19, from midnight to 5 a.m.

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at several I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. 

Details include:

Friday, June 11, through Saturday, June 19
Ramp from Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) North and South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed Friday and Saturday nights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and Sunday through Thursday nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for a traffic switch. Traffic on northbound Route 234 Business will be directed to turn left at Balls Ford Road, travel about two miles, turn right onto Route 234 Bypass (Prince William Parkway) North, then follow signs to I-66 West. Traffic on southbound Route 234 Business will be directed to turn right on to Route 29 (Lee Highway) South, and then follow signs to I-66 West.

Friday, June 11, through Saturday, June 19
Ramp from Route 234 Business South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed Friday and Saturday nights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and Sunday through Thursday nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for a traffic switch. Traffic will be directed to make a U-turn at Balls Ford Road to Route 234 Business North and exit to I-66 East.

Sunday, June 13, through Saturday, June 19
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 234 Business North and South
The ramp will be closed Sunday through Thursday nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday and Saturday nights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west, exit to Route 29 North Gainesville, turn left at the signal on to Route 29 South, stay to the right to get back to I-66 East and then exit to Route 234 Business.  

Sunday, June 13, through Saturday, June 19
Ramp from Route 234 Bypass to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed Sunday through Thursday nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday and Saturday nights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for a traffic shift.  Traffic will be detoured to I-66 West, then exit Route 29 Gainesville, turn left and exit back to I-66 East.

Sunday, June 13, through Saturday, June 19
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 234 Bypass
The ramp will be closed from Sunday through Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday and Saturday nights from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will continue farther east, exit to Route 234 Business, turn left, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal to I-66 West, then exit to Route 234 Bypass. 

Sunday night, June 13, through Saturday night, June 19
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 50 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night. Traffic will be directed to Route 50 East (prior to the closure), stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road on to Route 50 West.

Sunday, June 13, through Saturday, June 19
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 234 Business North and South
The ramp will be closed Sunday through Thursday nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday and Saturday nights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to exit to 234 Bypass South prior to the closure, then turn left on to Balls Ford Road to reach Route 234 Business North or South.

Monday, June 14, through Friday, June 18
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 North and Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed Monday through Thursday nights from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m., and Friday night from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for a traffic switch. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, to Route 29 North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North, then follow signs to the Braddock Road/Walney Road left exit.

Friday night, June 18, and Saturday night, June 19
Ramp from Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) North and South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 5 a.m. each night. Traffic will be directed to I-66 West, exit to Route 50 East, stay to the right, and then follow signs to I-66 East.

Tuesday, June 15, and Thursday, June 17
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed Tuesday from midnight to 4 a.m., and Thursday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road, then follow signs to I-66 West.

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
