Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges Next Week, September 5-11, for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at several I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Details include:

Tuesday, September 7, through Saturday, September 11
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North and South Centreville
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday nights, and from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 28 North, stay to the left to Braddock Road/Walney Road, turn left at the traffic signal onto Braddock Road West, follow signs to turn left to the ramp to I-66 West, then take I-66 West to Route 29 Centreville. (Note: This closure will not occur on night(s) when the detour route is not available due to other closures.)

Tuesday night, September 7, through Friday night, September 10
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for ramp work. Traffic will be directed to continue west to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 50 East. 

Tuesday night, September 7, through Friday night, September 10
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 50 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for ramp work. Traffic will be directed to exit prior to the closure on to Route 50 East, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road onto Route 50 West.

Tuesday night, September 7, through Thursday night, September 9
Ramp from Nutley Street North and South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to I-66 West, take the exit to Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road), stay to left and turn left at the traffic signal on to Route 123 South, then stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal to I-66 East.

Thursday night, September 9, through Saturday, September 11
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 North
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. Thursday night, and from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights for a traffic shift. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, continue south to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North.

Thursday, September 9, through Saturday night, September 11
Ramp from I-66 West to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Thursday night, and from midnight to 4 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights for a traffic switch. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, continue south to the exit to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North, continue on to the Westfields Boulevard Interchange. Drivers traveling to Braddock Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard West, then continue west to Braddock Road. Drivers traveling to Walney Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard East, then turn right onto Walney Road. 

Thursday, September 9, through Saturday, September 11
Route 28 North to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Thursday night, and from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights for a traffic switch. Traffic will be directed to continue farther north to Westfields Boulevard. Drivers traveling to Braddock Road will exit to Westfields Boulevard West and continue to Braddock Road. Drivers traveling to Walney Road will exit to Westfields Boulevard East, and then turn right onto Walney Road.

Friday night, September 10, and Saturday night, September 11
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 5 a.m. each night for crews to implement a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue farther south, exit to Route 29 (Lee Highway) South, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 West.

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
