Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges, December 5-11, for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Details include:

Sunday night, December 5
Ramp from Route 29 (Lee Highway) South Gainesville to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for setting concrete barrier. Traffic will be directed to continue south to the traffic signal at Virginia Oaks Drive, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most left-turn lane onto Route 29 North, then follow signs to I-66 East.

Monday night, December 6, and Wednesday night, December 8
Ramp from Route 234 Bypass (Prince William Parkway) North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. utility work. Traffic will be detoured to I-66 West, exit to Route 29 North, turn left at the traffic signal on to Route 29 South, then stay to the right to I-66 East.  

Monday night, December 6, through Friday night, December 10
Ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for barrier and drainage ditch work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west, exit to Route 608 (West Ox Road) South, stay to the right to Route 50 East, then follow signs to I-66 West.  

 

Wednesday, December 8, and Thursday, December 9
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from 10:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for a concrete pour. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, stay to the right to I-495 South, then follow signs to I-66 West. 

Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for a concrete pour. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 East, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 East.

 

Thursday, December 9
Ramp from Route 50 West to Fair Oaks Mall
The ramp will be closed from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for paving. Drivers will be detoured farther west to West Ox Road South, stay to the right to Route 50 East, then turn right into one of the two entrances into the Fair Oaks Mall property.

 

Friday, December 10, and Saturday, December 11
Ramp from Route 28 North to I-66 East
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 East
The ramps will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for a traffic shift. Southbound traffic will be directed farther south to Route 29 (Lee Highway) South, continue for about one mile, and follow signs to I-66 East. Northbound traffic will also be directed to Route 29 South (prior to the closed ramp), stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, continue for about one mile and follow signs to I-66 East.
