Overnight Lane Closures and Traffic Stoppages on I-495 North and South at I-66 Feb. 16-18 for Overhead Bridge Work
FAIRFAX – Overnight lane closures and traffic stoppages are planned on I-495 North and South at I-66 Tuesday, February 16, through Thursday, February 18, for overhead bridge work at I-66. The work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Drivers should expect delays if traveling in this area during these times and should consider using alternate routes.
Details include:
Tuesday, February 16
I-495 South from Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) to I-66
- The I-495 South general purpose lanes will be reduced to a single travel lane approaching I-66 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Drivers should expect periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes on southbound I-495 between midnight and 4 a.m.
- All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m.
Wednesday, February 17, and Thursday, February 18
I-495 North and South between Route 7 and Route 29 (Lee Highway)
- The I-495 North and South general purpose lanes will be reduced to a single travel lane approaching I-66 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly.
- Drivers should expect periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes on northbound and southbound I-495 between midnight and 4 a.m. nightly.
- All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m.
Message boards on I-495 are providing advance notice of lane closures and traffic stoppages.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
The I-66/I-495 Interchange is being reconstructed as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
