Overnight Closures and Traffic Stoppages on I-66 East and West near Vaden Drive in Vienna June 12 and June 14-17 for Bridge Beam Installation for New Express Lanes Ramps

FAIRFAX – Overnight lane closures and traffic stoppages on I-66 East and West approaching Vaden Drive in Vienna are scheduled to continue tomorrow night, Saturday, June 12, and next week, Monday, June 14, through Thursday, June 17, for installation of beams for the new Express Lanes access ramps at Vaden Drive. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Drivers should expect delays if traveling in this area and should consider using alternate routes.

Details include:

Saturday, June 12, and Monday, June 14
I-66 East from Blake Lane to Vaden Drive

  • I-66 East will be reduced to one travel lane approaching Vaden Drive Saturday night from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and Monday night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Drivers should expect periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes each night.
  • All lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. Sunday and by 5 a.m. Tuesday. 

Tuesday, June 15, through Thursday, June 17
I-66 West from Nutley Street to Vaden Drive

  • I-66 West will be reduced to one travel lane approaching Vaden Drive from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night
  • Drivers should expect periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes each night.
  • All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. 

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.

The Vaden Drive Bridge over I-66 is being rebuilt to accommodate the widening of I-66 and add connections to the future I-66 Express Lanes to and from the west. The new, wider bridge includes a shared-use path and opened to traffic in November 2020.
