Nixon Road Daytime Lane Closures in Purcellville March 9-12
Update: Pavement seal coating will occur April 27-28
Please note: One lane of alternating traffic via flagging will occur Tuesday, April 27 and Wednesday, April 28, weather permitting, between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. each day due to pavement seal coating. There will also be temporary traffic stoppages of up to 15 minutes between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. each day. The same detours listed below will be in effect.
PURCELLVILLE – Nixon Road (Route 697) between Purcellville Road (Route 611) and Route 287 (Berlin Turnpike), weather permitting, will have one lane of alternating traffic via flagging Tuesday, March 9 through Friday, March 12 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day for paving, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
There will also be temporary traffic stoppages of up to 15 minutes Tuesday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. each day.
The following detours will be in place during the work:
- Through traffic: Purcellville Road, Route 9 (Charles Town Pike) and Route 287 back to Nixon Road.
- Those needing access to properties along Nixon Road (local traffic): Route 287, Millstone Drive and Grange Drive back to Nixon Road.
The paving of a mile of Nixon Road is occurring under VDOT’s Rural Rustic Road Program, which aims to preserve the traditional feel of a rural road while making surface and other improvements within the current right-of-way.
