Gallows Road over I-66 to Be Reduced to Two Lanes During Overnight Hours May 10-15
FAIRFAX – Gallows Road over I-66 will be reduced to a single travel lane in each direction Monday night, May 10, through Saturday night, May 15, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night. The southbound side of Gallows Road will be closed with two-way traffic running on the northbound side. The closures are necessary for utility work on the bridge as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Drivers should expect delays if traveling in this area and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Monday, May 10, through Saturday, May 15
Gallows Road North and South over I-66
- The southbound side of Gallows Road will be closed between Stenhouse Place and Avenir Place with a single lane of traffic traveling in each direction on the northbound side between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. All lanes will reopen by 6 a.m.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
Gallows Road over I-66 is being reconstructed as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. The bridge is being lengthened, widened, raised, and shifted to the east to accommodate the new Express Lanes and provide room for future improvements along Gallows Road. Bike lanes and wider sidewalks are also being added along Gallows Road.
