FAIRFAX – Overnight lane closures and periodic traffic stoppages on I-66 West near the Vienna Metrorail Station will continue next week, beginning Monday night, July 13, through Friday night, July 17, for bridge beam installation for the new Vaden Drive Bridge. Stoppages will include multiple I-66 West ramps around Nutley Street and the Metro station. Work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Drivers traveling in this area should expect delays during these times and should consider using alternate routes.

Details include:

Monday, July 13, through Friday, July 17
I-66 West from Cedar Lane to west of Vaden Drive

  • I-66 West will be reduced to one travel lane approaching Vaden Drive near the Vienna Metrorail Station nightly Monday, July 13, through Thursday, July 16, from 9:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., and on Friday night, July 17, from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
  • Drivers should expect periodic stoppages each night for crews to lift bridge beams into place at Vaden Drive. Stoppages will also impact the ramps from Nutley Street to I-66 West, from Virginia Center Boulevard to I-66 West, and from I-66 West to Country Creek Road.
  • All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m. on weekdays, and by 5:30 a.m. on Saturday.
