Overnight Ramp Closures Next Week for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
Closures planned at the Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road), Route 28, and Route 29 (Lee Highway) Centreville Interchanges

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at several I-66 interchanges so that crews can perform various construction activities for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. 

Details include:

Sunday, August 23
Ramp from Route 123 North and South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed Sunday night, August 23, between midnight and 4 a.m. for restriping. Traffic will be directed to I-66 West, to Route 50 East, stay to the left and follow signs to I-66 East.

Monday, August 24, through Friday, August 28
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 29 Centreville
The ramp will be closed nightly from Monday, August 24, through Friday, August 28, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. for utility work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right for I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 29.

Tuesday, August 25, through Friday, August 28
Ramp from Route 29 South to Route 28 North
The ramp will be closed nightly from Tuesday, August 25, through Friday, August 28, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. for striping and lane shifts. Traffic will be directed to continue farther south to the traffic signal at the ramp to Route 28 South. Drivers should make a U-turn on Route 29 North, then stay right and follow signs to Route 28 North. 

Tuesday, August 25, through Thursday, August 27
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North
The ramp will be closed nightly from Tuesday, August 25, through Thursday, August 27, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. for restriping work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to Fairfax County Parkway North, stay to the right for I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 28 North.

Wednesday, August 26
Ramp from Route 123 South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed on Wednesday night, August 26, between midnight and 4 a.m. for barrier installation. Traffic will be directed to continue farther south, stay to the right, then turn right at the traffic signal onto the ramp from Route 123 North to I-66 West. 

Message boards on I-66 are providing advance notice of lane closures and traffic stoppages. 

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
