Overnight Ramp Closures For The I-66 Outside The Beltway Project Next Week
Closures planned at Route 234 Business and Route 28
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at I-66 interchanges so that crews can perform various construction activities for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Details include:
Sunday, May 31
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 North
- The ramp from westbound I-66 to northbound Route 28 will be closed Sunday night, May 31, from 9:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for crews to implement a traffic shift. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, stay to the right for Route 29 (Lee Highway) North, then follow signs back to Route 28 North.
Monday, June 1, through Thursday, June 4
Ramp from Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) South to I-66 East
- The spur ramp from southbound Route 234 Business to eastbound I-66 will be closed nightly from 8:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., Monday, June 1, through Thursday, June 4. Traffic on southbound Route 234 will continue farther south, stay to the left and make a U-turn at the traffic signal for Balls Ford Road, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Continuing nightly, through Sunday, June 14
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North
- The ramp from eastbound I-66 to northbound Route 28 will be closed nightly through Sunday, June 14. Closure on Sunday through Thursday nights is from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.; Friday and Saturday night closure is from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right for I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 28 North.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
