Overnight Ramp Closures For The I-66 Outside The Beltway Project Next Week
Closures planned at Route 28, Nutley Street, and I-495 Interchanges
FAIRFAX – Several overnight ramp closures are scheduled next week for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project so that crews can perform overhead bridge work, utility work, and other construction activities.
Details include:
Sunday, March 22, through Friday, March 27
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North
- The ramp from eastbound I-66 to northbound Route 28 will be closed nightly from Sunday night, March 22, through Friday night, March 27, from midnight to 4 a.m. (5 a.m. Saturday). Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right for I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 28 North.
Sunday, March 22, through Thursday, March 26
Ramp from Route 243 (Nutley Street) South to I-66 East
- The ramp from southbound Nutley Street to eastbound I-66 will be closed nightly from Sunday night, March 22, through Thursday night, March 26, from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Traffic will be detoured farther south, make a U-turn at Route 29 (Lee Highway), then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.

Ramp I-66 East to Route 243 (Nutley Street) North
- The ramp from eastbound I-66 to northbound Nutley Street will be closed nightly from Sunday night, March 22, through Thursday night, March 26, from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Traffic will be directed to southbound Nutley Street, make a U-turn at Route 29 (Lee Highway), then proceed north on Nutley Street.
Wednesday, March 25, and Thursday, March 26
Ramp from I-66 East to 495 Express Lanes South
- The ramp from I-66 East to the southbound 495 Express Lanes will be closed Wednesday, March 25, and Thursday, March 26, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic will be directed to the I-495 South general-purpose lanes.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
