Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges This Weekend and Next Week for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours this weekend and next week at several I-66 interchanges for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Details include:
Friday, November 13
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 29 (Lee Highway) Centreville
The ramp will be closed Friday, November 13, between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. for a traffic shift on I-66 West. Traffic will be directed prior to the closure to Route 28 South, then follow signs to Route 29 South.
Friday, November 13, through Sunday, November 15
Ramp from I-66 East to Nutley Street South
The ramp will be closed Friday, November 13, through Sunday, November 15, from 10 p.m. to 6:45 a.m. nightly, for paving work. Traffic will be detoured to Nutley Street North, travel to the intersection with Virginia Center Boulevard, and make a U-turn from the left-most turn lane at the traffic signal on to Nutley Street South.
Sunday, November 15, through Friday, November 20
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 29 (Lee Highway) Centreville
The ramp will be closed Sunday night, November 15, through Friday night, November 20, between midnight and 4 a.m. nightly for drainage installation. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West, and then follow signs to Route 29.
Monday, November 16, through Thursday, November 19
Ramp from 495 Express Lanes North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed Monday night, November 16, through Thursday night, November 19, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. nightly for bridge work at Gallows Road. Traffic will be directed to I-66 East, travel about 1.5 miles to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike), stay to the left and turn left at the signal, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Wednesday, November 18, though Saturday, November 21
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 234 (Prince William Parkway)
The ramp will be closed Wednesday night, November 18, and Thursday night, November 19, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.; Friday night, November 20, from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.; and Saturday night, November 21, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving operations. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) South, turn right on to Balls Ford Road, then travel about two miles west to Route 234.
Thursday, November 19, through Saturday, November 21
Ramp from Route 28 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed Thursday night, November 19, between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m., and nightly Friday, November 20, and Saturday, November 21, between midnight and 5 a.m. for crews to implement a traffic pattern change. Traffic will continue north to Westfields Boulevard West, stay to the right for Route 28 South, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Thursday, November 19, through Saturday, November 21
Ramp from Route 29 to Route 28 North
The ramp will be closed Thursday night, November 19, between 10 p.m. and 4:30 a.m., and nightly Friday, November 20, and Saturday, November 21, between midnight and 5 a.m. for crews to implement a traffic pattern change. To reach Route 28 North and/or I-66 East, traffic will be detoured farther south to the I-66/Route 29 Centreville Interchange, stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East. Drivers headed to Route 28 North should stay to the right and follow signs.
Friday, November 20, through Monday, November 23
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 234 Business North
The ramp will be closed starting at 10 p.m. Friday night, November 20, through 5 a.m. Monday, November 23, for paving work. Traffic will be detoured to Route 234 Business South, continue to the intersection with Balls Ford Road, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most left turn lane at the traffic signal on to Route 234 Business North.
Message boards on I-66 are providing advance notice of lane closures and traffic stoppages.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
