Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges Next Week for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at several I-66 Interchanges throughout the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project corridor. 

Details include:

Sunday, December 6, through Tuesday, December 8
Ramp from Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) South to I-66 East 
The ramp will be closed nightly Sunday night, December 6, through Tuesday night, December 8, between midnight and 4 a.m. for striping. Traffic will be detoured farther south to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North Centreville, turn left at the second traffic signal onto Route 29 North, turn left at the traffic signal to Route 286 North, and then follow signs for I-66 East.

Monday, December 7, through Friday, December 11
Ramp from Route 28 North to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed nightly Monday night, December 7, through Friday night, December 11, between midnight and 4 a.m. for barrier removal. Traffic will be directed to continue farther north to Westfields Boulevard. To reach Braddock Road, travel west. To reach Walney Road, travel east.

Monday, December 7, through Friday, December 11
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 East 
The ramp will be closed nightly Monday night, December 7, through Friday night, December 11, between midnight and 4 a.m. for bridge work. Traffic will be directed farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road, , then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.

Tuesday, December 8, through Saturday, December 12
Ramp from Route 29 (Lee Highway) North and South Centreville to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed nightly Tuesday night, December 8, through Saturday night, December 12, between midnight and 4 a.m. for barrier installation, paving, and for crews to implement a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to I-66 East, to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.

Message boards on I-66 are providing advance notice of lane closures and traffic stoppages. 

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
