FAIRFAX – Bridge beam installation for the new Jermantown Road Bridge over I-66 will require lane closures and stoppages on I-66 East and West next week during overnight hours Monday, November 2, through Friday, November 6, as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. Drivers should expect delays if traveling in this area during these times and should consider using alternate routes.

Details include:

Monday, November 2, and Tuesday, November 3
I-66 East between Route 50 and Jermantown Road

• Two right lanes will be closed nightly on I-66 East approaching Jermantown Road Monday, November 2, and Tuesday, November 3, from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
• All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m.

Wednesday, November 4, through Friday, November 6
I-66 East and West between Route 50 and Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road)

• I-66 East will be reduced to one travel lane nightly approaching Jermantown Road Wednesday, November 4, through Friday, November 6, from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
• Drivers should expect periodic 20-minute stoppages on eastbound I-66 each night between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. for crews to lift bridge beams into place at Jermantown Road.
• I-66 West will be reduced to two travel lanes nightly approaching Jermantown Road Wednesday, November 4, through Friday, November 6, from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.  
• Drivers should expect periodic brief stoppages of up to 10-minutes on westbound I-66 between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. nightly.
• All lanes will reopen on I-66 East by 4:30 a.m., and on I-66 West by 5 a.m.

Message boards on I-66 East and West are providing advance notice of lane closures and traffic stoppages. 

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
