Overnight Closures and Traffic Stoppages on I-66 East and West near Jermantown Road in Fairfax Next Friday, Dec. 4, for Overhead Bridge Work

FAIRFAX – Overnight lane closures and traffic stoppages on I-66 East and West near Jermantown Road are scheduled next Friday night, December 4, for overhead bridge work for the new Jermantown Road Bridge over I-66. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Drivers should expect delays if traveling in this area and should consider using alternate routes.

Details include:

Friday, December 4

I-66 East and West between Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) and Route 50

  • I-66 East and West will be reduced to one travel lane approaching Jermantown Road Friday night, December 4, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Drivers should expect periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes in both directions on I-66 between midnight and 4 a.m.
  • All lanes will reopen by 9 a.m.

Message boards on I-66 East and West are providing advance notice of lane closures and traffic stoppages. 

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.

The Jermantown Road Bridge over I-66 is being reconstructed as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
