Overnight Closures and Traffic Stoppages on I-66 East and West near Jermantown Road in Fairfax Continue Next Week for Overhead Bridge Work
FAIRFAX – Overnight lane closures and brief traffic stoppages on I-66 East and West near Jermantown Road are scheduled to continue next week for bridge beam installation for the new Jermantown Road Bridge over I-66. Lane closures and stoppages will occur on I-66 East Sunday, November 15, through Tuesday, November 17, and in both directions on I-66 Wednesday, November 18, through Friday, November 20. The work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Drivers should expect delays if traveling in this area during these times and should consider using alternate routes.

Sunday, November 15, through Tuesday, November 17
I-66 East from Route 50 to Jermantown Road
- I-66 East will be reduced to two travel lanes each night in the vicinity of Jermantown Road from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
- Drivers should expect periodic brief stoppages of up to 10 minutes on eastbound I-66 between 10:30 p.m. and 4 a.m.
- All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m.
Wednesday, November 18, through Friday, November 20
I-66 East and West between Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) and Route 50
- I-66 East will be reduced to one travel lane each night approaching Jermantown Road from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
- I-66 West will be reduced to two travel lanes each night in the vicinity of Jermantown Road from 9:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
- Drivers should expect periodic brief stoppages of up to 10 minutes in both directions of I-66 between 10:30 p.m. and 4 a.m.
- All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m.
Message boards on I-66 East and West are providing advance notice of lane closures and traffic stoppages.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
The Jermantown Road Bridge over I-66 is being reconstructed as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
