North Lynn Street and I-66 Ramps Overnight Lane Closures in Rosslyn March 17-20
Pavement milling related to Lynn Street Esplanade and Custis Trail Improvements project
ROSSLYN – North Lynn Street between northbound Lee Highway and southbound Lee Highway, as well as the ramp from North Lynn Street to eastbound I-66 and the ramp from westbound I-66 to North Lynn Street will have overnight lane closures (weather permitting) Tuesday night, March 17 through Friday night, March 20 for pavement milling as part of the Lynn Street Esplanade and Custis Trail Improvements project, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
The overnight lane closures will occur Tuesday night through Thursday night, March 19 between 10 p.m. each night and 5 a.m. the following morning, and Friday night between 10 p.m. and 9 a.m. the following morning. The ramps will remain open at all times.
The sidewalk along northbound North Lynn Street between northbound Lee Highway and southbound Lee Highway will remain closed until mid-spring. Pedestrians are being detoured to the opposite sidewalk along southbound North Lynn Street.
A quarter-mile of a wider Custis Trail from North Lynn Street to North Oak Street opened to bicyclists and pedestrians in August. Upgraded pedestrian signals and curb ramps have also been installed at the southbound Lee Highway intersections of North Lynn Street, Fort Myer Drive, North Nash Street and North Oak Street.
The project also includes improvements along about 300 feet of North Lynn Street, including:
- Wider sidewalks
- Improved curb ramps
- Upgraded traffic signals
- A new bike lane
- Decorative lighting
- Landscaping
A public art installation by Arlington County called “Corridor of Light” will also be incorporated, with prominent elements at each of the four corners of the North Lynn Street bridge over I-66.
The entire project is scheduled for completion in late spring.
