Lane Closures, Periodic Stoppages on I-66 East and Route 50 East Next Week for Overhead Sign Removal
FAIRFAX - Overnight lane closures and periodic full stoppages of traffic will be implemented next week for overhead sign gantry removal on I-66 East and Route 50 East as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Details include:
Tuesday, Feb. 4: Route 50 East from Route 608 (West Ox Road) to I-66
- Two lanes will be closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- Periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between midnight and 4 a.m. for overhead gantry removal.
Wednesday, Feb. 5: I-66 East from Bull Run Drive to Route 29 Centreville
- Three lanes will be closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- Periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between midnight and 4 a.m. for overhead gantry removal.
Friday, Feb. 7: I-66 East between Route 50 and Jermantown Road
- Three right lanes will be closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- Periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between midnight and 4 a.m. for overhead gantry removal.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
The I-66 Outside the Beltway Express Lanes are expected to open in December 2022.
