VDOT Northern Virginia 15th Annual Career Fair is Oct. 3
About 1,300 students will learn about transportation-related careers from nearly 100 employers

MANASSAS – The Virginia Department of Transportation Northern Virginia District is working to help foster the transportation workforce of tomorrow via its 15th annual Transportation Career Fair Thursday, Oct. 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Prince William County Fairgrounds, 10624 Dumfries Road, Manassas, VA 20112.

About 100 engineering firms, organizations, agencies and contractors from all over the Commonwealth will give around 1,300 high school students the chance to network and learn about careers in civil engineering, architecture, technology, construction, environmental, administration and other transportation-related fields.

New this year is a High School Business Plan Competition. Students will create a business or product and pitch it to a panel of judges at the Career Fair, with monetary prizes to be awarded.

Many hands-on opportunities again await students, including building a bridge, trying equipment, and a demonstration on how concrete is made. There will also be giveaways and scholarship and internship opportunities.
