Overnight Ramp Closures at the I-66 / Route 28 Interchange Dec. 14 and 15 For Overhead Utility Relocation
FAIRFAX – Overhead utility relocation at the Route 28 and I-66 Interchange requires the closure of the ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West, and the ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 South during the overnight hours of Saturday, Dec. 14, and Sunday, Dec. 15. Additionally, traffic on Braddock Road near Route 28 will have periodic 20-minute stoppages.
Details include:
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West
Saturday, Dec. 14: Midnight to 5 a.m.
Sunday, Dec. 15: Midnight to 4 a.m.
- The ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West will be closed.
- Drivers will be directed to continue farther south to Route 29 South, drive under I-66 to O’Day Drive, make a U-turn, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.

Saturday, December 14: Midnight to 5 a.m.
Sunday, December 15: Midnight to 4 a.m.
- The ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 South will be closed.
- Drivers will be directed to continue farther west to exit at Route 29. At the traffic signal, drivers will turn right onto Route 29 South, then stay to the left to make a U-turn at O’Day Drive onto Route 29 North, then follow signs to Route 28 South.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
