LEESBURG – Lane closures will occur along Route 7 (East Market Street) between the Leesburg Bypass and River Creek Parkway (weather permitting) Sunday night, Dec. 8 through Thursday night, Dec. 12 and Sunday night, Dec. 15 through Thursday night, Dec. 19 for work related to the Battlefield Parkway interchange project, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

On Sunday night, Dec. 8 through Thursday night, Dec. 12 from 10 p.m. each night to 5 a.m. the following morning, lane closures will occur on eastbound and westbound Route 7 for temporary median widening work.

On Sunday night, Dec. 15 and Monday night, Dec. 16, there will be lane closures on westbound Route 7, then on Tuesday night, Dec. 17 and Wednesday night, Dec. 18, there will be lane closures on eastbound Route 7 to install temporary pavement markings. Once the markings are in place, all lanes in both directions will temporarily shift to the left.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the project was held in October. The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2021.
