Overnight Lane Closures Begin Next Week for Paving on I-66 Between Route 234 Business and Route 29 in Centreville
Work will continue into October with extended lane closures in non-peak direction
FAIRFAX – Drivers should expect nightly lane closures for paving work on I-66 between Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) and Route 29 in Centreville starting this Sunday night, Sept. 15, and continuing into October. Double lane closures will occur during overnight hours, as well as during evening and morning hours in non-peak commute directions, to accommodate the work. Drivers should plan ahead and expect delays.
Details include:
Sunday, Sept. 15
- I-66 West from Route 29 Centreville to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Monday, Sept. 16, through Thursday, Sept. 19
- I-66 West from Route 29 Centreville to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) from 9 p.m. to 10 a.m.
Friday, Sept. 20, and Saturday, Sept. 21
- I-66 West from Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) to Route 29 Centreville from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.

When complete, the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project will feature three general purpose and two express lanes in each direction from I-495/Capital Beltway to Route 29 in Gainesville. The I-66 Outside the Beltway Express Lanes are expected to open in December 2022.
