Overnight Closures on Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) at I-66 for Bridge Construction the Week of August 5
Detours required while crews install beams for new bridge
UPDATE: WORK RESCHEDULED TO BEGIN ON OR ABOUT AUGUST 15
FAIRFAX, Va. - Drivers should plan for delays and detours on northbound and southbound Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) during the overnight hours the week of August 5.
Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) will be closed in both directions at I-66 nightly between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., so construction crews can lift bridge beams into place for the new Sudley Road collector-distributor road along westbound I-66. Additionally, the ramp from I-66 West to southbound Sudley Road will be closed.
Details include:
Monday, August 5, through Friday, August 9: Northbound and Southbound Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) at I-66
- Closure of both northbound and southbound Sudley Road at I-66 between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- Closure of the ramp from I-66 West to southbound Sudley Road between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- Northbound Sudley Road traffic will be detoured to I-66 East to Route 29 South in Centreville. Make a left at the traffic signal and stay to the right for I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 234 North.
- Southbound Sudley Road traffic will be detoured to I-66 West to the exit for Route 29 North in Gainesville. Make a left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, stay to the right for I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 234 South.
- I-66 West traffic heading to southbound Sudley Road will be detoured farther west to the exit for Route 29 North in Gainesville, make a left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, stay to the right for I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 234 South.
In addition to the closures above, the left lane of southbound Sudley Road will be closed from Battleview Parkway to I-66 beginning at 9 p.m., Saturday, August 3, through 9 a.m., Saturday, August 10.
