HERNDON
– Fox Mill Road (Route 665) between Loveless Lane and Thoroughbred Road will be closed to through traffic Monday, May 13 through Tuesday, May 21 to replace a pipe within the culvert that carries Little Difficult Run under Fox Mill Road, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The affected segment of Fox Mill Road will be continuously closed from 8 a.m. Monday, May 13 until 5 p.m. Thursday, May 16. After that, the segment will just have daytime closures Friday, May 17, Monday, May 20 and Tuesday, May 21 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Residents within the closure area and emergency vehicles will have access to the closed portion of Fox Mill Road; however, they will not be able to go beyond the point of pipe replacement in either direction.

Through traffic will be detoured via the following routes:

  • Northbound Fox Mill Road: Folkstone Drive and Lawyers Road (Routes 602 and 665) back to Fox Mill Road.
  • Southbound Fox Mill Road: Steeplechase Dr (Route 4703), Lawyers Road (Routes 673, 665 and 602) and Folkstone Drive back to Fox Mill Road.

Southbound Fox Mill Road traffic will still have normal access to A. Scott Crossfield Elementary School and Fred Crabtree Park; northbound Fox Mill Road traffic will need to follow the above detour to access them.
