WATCH FOR STRONG WINDS AND ICING ON ROADWAYS TONIGHT
Lynchburg, Va. – Our current rain/snow event is moving through our area. Precipitation is expected to leave the Lynchburg district by early to mid-afternoon. The evening and overnight hours will bring much colder temperatures. Parts of the district will drop into the teens, meaning any precipitation left on roads will freeze. VDOT crews are monitoring conditions and responding where needed. Still, we urge drivers to be especially careful if driving overnight and into the early morning hours on Sunday, as slick, icy sections of roadway may develop.
Strong wind gusts mean downed trees and power lines in roadways are a big concern. If you see a roadway hazard, you can report it by calling 800-FOR-ROAD (367-7623).
This reminder, set your clocks forward one hour tonight for Daylight Saving Time. (END)
